Translator Metalanguage as a Tool for the Empowerment of Translation Professionals
Abstract
This article reflects on the fundamental role played by translational metalanguage—in its theoretical, didactic, and professional dimensions—in the empowerment and visibility of translation students, educators, and professionals. It argues that such empowerment can be strengthened through the promotion of terminological activism and metalinguistic literacy. Based on a critical analysis of terminological products within the translational, pedagogical, and socioprofessional fields, the article proposes intervention strategies aimed at fostering terminological literacy at all levels of practice.
