Transformations in the teaching of Library Science in the face of Generative Artificial Intelligence: an analysis of teaching practices at FaHCE-UNLP

Artificial intelligence (AI) is having a disruptive influence on various aspects of society, especially education. In today's digital age, generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has emerged as a powerful tool revolutionizing how teaching and learning take place. This exploratory-descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, employs a case study design to analyze the effects of incorporating GAI into the teaching practices of fourth-year Library Science professors at the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of the National University of La Plata. Through in-depth interviews, the study reveals that, while teachers' experience with these technologies is still exploratory and cautious, they recognize potential for pedagogical innovation. Furthermore, the teacher's role is central to facilitating the integration of AI in the classroom, and their training is an essential area of focus for the future of the discipline.

Correspondência entre currículo e práticas de uso em bibliotecas universitárias: uma avaliação baseada em evidências sob a perspectiva do campo académico

Este estudo analisa a relação entre o currículo da Licenciatura em Psicologia da Universidade da República e o acervo da Biblioteca «José Luis Rebellato», problematizando essa conexão para além da sua dimensão funcional. Utilizando uma abordagem baseada em evidências, integra dados dos programas, do catálogo bibliográfico e dos registos de circulação do período 2022-2025, com o objetivo de examinar o alinhamento entre a bibliografia prescrita e as práticas de utilização. Os resultados mostram uma elevada circulação (25.057 empréstimos; 3.414 utilizadores únicos), mas uma baixa correspondência com o currículo: apenas 21,8% dos empréstimos referem-se a recursos bibliográficos incluídos no currículo. A cobertura da bibliografia principal atinge 38%, indicando uma lacuna significativa entre a prescrição académica e a disponibilidade. Observa-se uma forte concentração de utilização num pequeno conjunto de títulos e uma baixa diversidade linguística. Os resultados são interpretados a partir de uma perspetiva que articula o conceito de campo académico, abordagens ao saber/poder e teoria da prática, permitindo compreender a biblioteca como um espaço de mediação onde se configuram práticas informacionais situadas. O estudo fornece um modelo analítico integrativo que contribui para a avaliação de acervos e a elaboração de políticas.

Knowledge and Perception of Open Science at the National University of Córdoba: results of anI nstitutional Survey

The Open Knowledge Office (OCA), under the Secretariat of Science and Technology (SECyT) of the National University of Córdoba (UNC), Argentina, conducted a survey to assess the level of knowledge and perception that researchers held regarding Open Science. For this purpose, an online survey was designed and administered, obtaining 712 valid responses from faculty/researchers across 15 faculties, the Astronomical Observatory of Córdoba, the Mario Gulich Institute for Advanced Space Studies, and various units of the Rector's Office, as well as authorities and library staff. The results showed that, while 82.7% of participants had heard of the concept, the expressed knowledge was mostly superficial, with only 23.6% able to explain or teach it. The most recognized components were open access journals (82,6%) and institutional repositories (77,8%), whereas open research methodologies received significantly lower recognition levels. This article describes the institutional context of the OCA, the survey design and analysis process, and how its results drove the creation of the Open Science Advisory Council of the UNC in October 2025, a first step toward a comprehensive university policy on the subject.

Environmental information in the Brazilian Amazon: scientific output in the field of Information Science in the context of COP 30

Environmental information is relevant to discussions regarding conservation, sustainable development, and environmental awareness concerning the Brazilian Amazon through the organization, dissemination, and access to information made possible by Information Science. The objective is to conduct a survey of scientific output on environmental information in the Brazilian Amazon in the field of Information Science using the Reference Database of Journal Articles in Information Science, the Scientific Electronic Library Online, the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, and the CAPES Thesis and Dissertation Catalog, covering the period from 2017 to 2025. The methodology is characterized as exploratory and descriptive research, using bibliometric indicators such as authorship, institutional affiliation, graduate program, keywords, scientific journal, and year to analyze monographs and scientific articles. The scientific output on environmental information that includes the Brazilian Amazon as a central theme in the context of Information Science was identified as minimal, even though there is collaboration among graduate programs as well as institutions from different locations in Brazil. It was concluded that environmental information on the Amazon in the field of Information Science contributes to the organization and dissemination of information, aiding in the development of society and environmental awareness, as well as access to high-quality and authentic information.
